Ric Keller looks to return to Congress

BY THE NEWS SERVICE OF FLORIDA

Touting ideas such as building a wall on the border with Mexico, former Republican Congressman Ric Keller announced Thursday he will seek to return to Washington in a newly drawn U.S. House district. Keller, during an interview on WOFL Fox 35 in Orlando, said he will run in Congressional District 6, which includes all or parts of Volusia, Flagler, Lake and St. Johns counties. "The reason I'm running for Congress is I think Washington is dysfunctional, I think our country is heading in the wrong direction, and I feel like we've been betrayed by the Republican establishment," Keller said during the TV interview. Though no incumbents are running in District 6, Keller is entering a crowded field. Among the candidates are state Rep. Fred Costello, R-Ormond Beach, state Rep. David Santiago, R-Deltona, and state Rep. Dwayne Taylor, D-Daytona Beach. Keller was elected to Congress in 2000 in an Orlando-area district and was re-elected three times before losing in 2008 to Democrat Alan Grayson.
