CRYSTAL STICKLE has been named interim president of the Florida Hospital Association, effective Jan. 1. Stickle is an executive vice president of the association.

SUSAN ANDERSON AND TYLER SUNUNU have been named to leadership positions with LeadingAge Florida. Anderson, who will serve as director of assisted living public policy, previously worked as vice president of public policy and legal affairs for the Florida Senior Living Association. Sununu, who will serve as director of nursing home public policy, previously worked as health services administrator at Westminster Oaks, a senior living community in Tallahassee.

PETER O’ROURKE has been named executive director of the Republican Party of Florida. O’Rourke is a former acting secretary of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

KARI HEBRANK AND C. SCOTT JENKINS have joined the Tallahassee office of Carlton Fields as senior government consultants. Hebrank and Jenkins previously were with the firm Wilson & Associates.

WILLIAM ALTFIELD, GINA BEOVIDES, LAURA SHEARON CRUZ AND MARLENE FERNANDEZ-KARAVETSOS have been appointed by Gov. Ron DeSantis as Miami-Dade County circuit judges. Altfield, of Miami, has been serving as a Miami-Dade County judge since 2011. Beovides, of Miami, has served as a Miami-Dade County judge since 2016. Cruz, of Coral Gables, has served as a Miami-Dade County judge since 2018. Fernandez-Karavetsos, of Miami, is a special counsel and assistant attorney for the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida.

ALEJANDRO LEVY, YOLANDA RUIZ-CASANOVA, DANIELA DE LA TORRE, SCHERLIE DIEUJUSTE, ANDREA TRAINOR, BROOKE CHRISTY, LUIS ZALDIVAR, INGRID MONTGOMERY, REBECCA BERGER AND RID BHUIYAN have been named to organizer positions for the Florida Democratic Party. Levy will serve as regional field director. Ruiz-Casanova will be an organizer in Miami-Dade County; De La Torre will be an organizer in Broward County; Dieujuste and Trainor will be organizers in Palm Beach County; Christy, Zaldivar and Montgomery will be organizers in Duval County; Berger will be an organizer in Hillsborough County; and Bhuiyan will be an organizer in Sarasota County.

JIM BOYD, DENNIS LEMMA AND MARY LYNN ULREY have been named by Attorney General Ashley Moody to the Statewide Task Force on Opioid Abuse. Boyd, R-Bradenton, is a former member of the Florida House. Lemma is the Seminole County sheriff. Ulrey is chief executive officer of DACCO Behavioral Health.

HEATHER FLYNN, STEVEN LEIFMAN, MELANIE BROWN-WOOFTER, TOMMY FORD, RICK JENKINS AND MELISSA NELSON have been appointed by Gov. Ron DeSantis to the Statewide Task Force on Opioid Abuse. Flynn, of Tallahassee, is a clinical psychologist, associate professor and vice chair for research at the Florida State University College of Medicine. Leifman, of Miami, is an associate administrative judge for the 11th Judicial Circuit. Brown-Woofter, of Crawfordville, is president and CEO of the Florida Behavioral Health Association. Ford is the Bay County sheriff. Jenkins is the North Palm Beach police chief. Nelson is the state attorney in the 4th Judicial Circuit.

SAL NUZZO, TARREN BRAGDON, JONATHAN SATTER, KEITH WOLD AND ED MOORE have been appointed by Gov. Ron DeSantis to the Government Efficiency Task Force. Nuzzo, of Tallahassee, is vice president of policy and director of the Center for Economic Prosperity at the James Madison Institute. Bragdon, of Ave Maria, is chief executive officer at the Foundation for Government Accountability. Satter, of North Palm Beach, is secretary of the Florida Department of Management Services. Wold, of Boca Raton, is an attorney and private investor. Moore, of Tallahassee, is president of the Independent Colleges and Universities of Florida.

GEORGE ROBERTS has been reappointed by Gov. Ron DeSantis to the Northwest Florida Water Management District Governing Board. Roberts, of Panama City Beach, is vice president of Roberts & Roberts, Inc. a home construction company, and owner of Hombre Golf Club. 

BOB CORTES AND SUSAN FERNANDEZ have been appointed by Gov. Ron DeSantis to the Seminole State College Board of Trustees. Cortes, of Altamonte Springs, is senior administrator for government affairs for the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office and is a former member of the Florida House. Fernandez, of Sanford, is senior director of communications and government relations at Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems Americas.

DAISY LOPEZ CID, MICHAEL SASSO AND MAI SWANSON have been appointed or reappointed by Gov. Rond DeSantis to the Valencia College Board of Trustees. Lopez Cid, of Kissimmee, is a real-estate broker and owner of ReMax Premier Properties. Sasso, of Orlando, is a partner at Sasso & Sasso, P.A, a Winter Park law firm. Swanson, of Winter Park, is owner and manager of Signature Landscape Contractors.

SHANTEL DAVIS has been appointed by Gov. Ron DeSantis to the Florida State College at Jacksonville Board of Trustees. Davis, of Jacksonville, is vice president of real estate and facilities management for CSX Transportation.

JAN CONRAD AND SAM GARRISON have been appointed or reappointed by Gov. Ron DeSantis to the St. Johns River State College Board of Trustees. Conrad, of St. Johns County, is senior vice president of commercial banking at Ameris Bank. Garrison, of Clay County, is an attorney with Bradley, Garrison & Komando, P.A.

CINDY MOODY AND LARRY HAWKINS have been appointed by Gov. Ron DeSantis to the Holmes County Hospital Corporation. Moody, of Bonifay, is assistant to the market president for First Federal Bank. Hawkins, of Bonifay, is a retired finance officer for the Holmes County School Board.

TONY LIMA has been named to Board of Directors of the Florida State Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Lima heads the Miami office of SL7 Consulting.
