DOUGLAS MELENDEZ RUIZ has joined Florida International University as a senior fellow at the Steven J. Green School of International and Public Affairs. Melendez Ruiz is a former attorney general of El Salvador.

FRANCIS SUAREZ has been appointed by state Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis to the Florida Blockchain Task Force. Suarez is the mayor of Miami.

BETSY BENAC has been appointed by Senate President Bill Galvano, R-Bradenton, to the Florida Greenways and Trails Council. Benac is a Manatee County commissioner.

EDWARD RUSSO has been appointed by Gov. Ron DeSantis to the Board of Pilot Commissioners. Russo, of Key West, is president and CEO of Environmental Remedy and Recovery and CEO of Watergen USA.

STANLEY WAKSHLAG, PAUL J. SCHWIEP AND NEAL A. HOCHBERG have been appointed by the Florida Supreme Court to the Florida Board of Bar Examiners. Wakshlag is a shareholder at Kenny Nachwalter in Miami. Schwiep is with Coffey Burlington, P.L. in Miami. Hochberg, of Hollywood, is a senior adviser to the leadership of the FTI Consulting Forensic & Litigation Consulting segment.

ALLEN JACKSON, THOMAS KONTINOS, HONG POTOMSKI, MELANIE SHORE AND WILHELMINA TRIBBLE have been appointed by Florida Bar President John Stewart to the Bar’s Citizens Advisory Committee. Jackson, of North Lauderdale, is president and CEO of Triune Consulting. Kontinos, of Cape Coral, is chief operating officer for eGuarded, LLC., and president and owner of TKInvestigations, Inc. Potomski, of Gulf Breeze, is executive director of the Andrews Research & Education Foundation. Shore, of Gainesville, is a senior vice president and private banker with Ameris Bank. Tribble, of Orlando, is a certified international facilitator and founder and president of Lowe Tribble & Associates Inc.

KEVIN LATA has been named campaign manager for the campaign of state Rep. Margaret Good, D-Sarasota, in Congressional District 16. Lata managed Good’s 2018 special-election campaign in state House District 72.

DEBORAH BUCKLAND, G. RAY DRIVER AND AREZOU JOLLY have been appointed or reappointed by Gov. Ron DeSantis to the Jacksonville Transportation Authority. Buckland, of Jacksonville, is market president for Branch Banking & Trust Company, or BB&T. Driver, of Jacksonville, is a founding partner at the law firm of Driver, McAfee, Hawthorne and Diebenow. Jolly, of Jacksonville, is assistant general counsel for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida, Inc.

RICHARD SCHWAB AND CHARLES KEITH have been reappointed by Gov. Ron DeSantis to the Suwannee River Water Management District Governing Board. Schwab, of Perry, is vice president of M.A. Rigoni, Inc., a forest management company. Keith, of Lake City, is president of American Pawn Brokers.

ORLANDO GONZALES has been appointed executive director of the South Florida LGBTQ advocacy group SAVE. Gonzales has worked in real estate and with non-profit organizations in Washington, D.C.
