CRAIG DETHOMASIS has been appointed by Gov. Ron DeSantis as a judge in the 8th Judicial Circuit, which is made up of Alachua, Baker, Bradford, Gilchrist, Levy and Union counties. DeThomasis, of Gainesville, has been a partner at DeThomasis and Buchanan P.A.
MANNY DIAZ JR. has been appointed by Senate President Bill Galvano, R-Bradenton, to the Statewide Council on Human Trafficking. Diaz, R-Hialeah, represents District 36 in the Florida Senate.
RICHARD BURKE has been appointed by Gov. Ron DeSantis to the Florida Transportation Commission. Burke, of Ponte Vedra Beach, is chief executive officer of Advanced Disposal.
KAROL MOLINARES has been named deputy communications director for Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried. Molinares’ past positions have included deputy communications director for the Florida House Democratic Office.
AJ FABRIZIO, MORIAH BARNHART, GLENN WHITWORTH JR., KYLE STORY, ERIK RANGE, LEONARD SAMUELS, ROD HOLLINGSWORTH, KEILY STIFF, DAVID HASENAUER, TARA TEDROW, BOBBIE GOLDEN, COLE PEACOCK, MITCH HUTCHCRAFT, RICHARD DOUGLAS, WILL WADLINGTON, ROBERT “BOB” CLAYTON, JASON WELZ, HAL LUCAS, JASON WINKLER AND JEREMY ROLLING have been appointed by Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried to the Hemp Advisory Committee. Fabrizio is an epileptic and biochemical expert specializing in cannabinoids. Barnhart founded CannaMoms, a nonprofit that works to help children. Whitworth is a produce farmer. Story is a farmer who grows citrus, peaches, and blueberries. Range has served as a cannabis consultant. Samuels is a partner and a member of the Dispute Resolution Team at Berger Singerman LLP. Hollingsworth is president and CEO of Sun Bulb Co. Stiff has a background in entrepreneurial ventures and start-ups. Hasenauer serves as CEO of Green Point Research. Tedrow is a shareholder and chair of the Cannabis & Controlled Substances Group at Lowndes, Drosdick, Doster, Kantor & Reed, PA. Golden owns a goat and sheep ranch in Jefferson County. Peacock comes from a family of peanut farmers in Florida. Hutchcraft is vice president of real estate for King Ranch and Consolidated Citrus, LP. Douglas is a partner at PMK Associates, Inc. Wadlington is a postdoctoral research scientist at the University of Florida Hemp Pilot Project. Clayton is a retired mechanical engineer. Welz is president and CEO of Knight Enterprises. Lucas practices corporate transactional and business litigation law at Lucas Savitz P.L. Winkler helped form Novium, which specializes in cannabis and hemp-related therapies. Rolling grows peanuts, cotton and watermelons in the Panhandle.
JASON NIMETH has been appointed by Gov. Ron DeSantis as a Lake County judge. Nimeth, of Leesburg, is an assistant state attorney in the 5th Judicial Circuit.
HEATHER DOYLE has been appointed by Gov. Ron DeSantis as a Manatee County judge. Doyle, of Lakewood Ranch, is a chief assistant state attorney in the 12th Judicial Circuit.
LORI ANN WINSTEAD has been appointed by Gov. Ron DeSantis as a Polk County judge. Winstead, of Lakeland, is an assistant state attorney in the 13th Judicial Circuit.
MICHAEL MCELROY has been appointed by Gov. Ron DeSantis as Gilchrist County Tax Collector. McElroy, of Trenton, is city president and branch manager of Ameris Bank.
MATT JONES has been named executive director of the Lee County Democratic Party. Jones worked with NextGen Florida during the 2018 election cycle.
