STEVEN HUDSON AND RODNEY BARRETO have been appointed by Gov. Ron DeSantis to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. Hudson, of Fort Lauderdale, is president and chief executive officer of Hudson Capital Group. Barreto, of Coral Gables, is president and chief executive officer of Barreto Group.

DAKEYAN CHA DRE GRAHAM has been named the 2020 Florida Department of Education Teacher of the Year. Graham is director of instrumental studies at C. Leon King High School in Hillsborough County.

LAUREN BOOK AND ELLYN BOGDANOFF have been appointed by Senate President Bill Galvano, R-Bradenton, to the Statewide Council on Human Trafficking Direct-Support Organization Board of Directors. Book, D-Plantation, represents District 32 in the Senate. Bogdanoff is a former Republican senator from Broward County.

TRAVIS HUTSON has been appointed by Senate President Bill Galvano, R-Bradenton, to the Florida Talent Development Council. Hutson, R-St. Augustine, represents District 7 in the Florida Senate.

AUDREY GIBSON has been appointed by Senate President Bill Galvano, R-Bradenton, to the Alzheimer’s Disease Advisory Committee. Gibson, D-Jacksonville, is the minority leader in the Florida Senate and represents District 6.

JASON PIZZO AND LARRY EGER have been appointed by Senate President Bill Galvano, R-Bradenton, to the Criminal Punishment Code Task Force. Pizzo, D-North Miami Beach, represents District 38 in the Florida Senate. Eger is public defender in the 12th Judicial Circuit.

MICHAEL MORLEY, JOHN STINNEFORD, MELISSA NELSON, MICHAEL ANDREWS, MELANIE BEVAN AND CHRISTOPHER NOCCO have been appointed by Gov. Ron DeSantis to the Criminal Punishment Code Task Force. Morley, of Windemere, is an assistant professor at the Florida State University College of Law. Stinneford, of Ponte Vedra Beach, is a professor at the University of Florida’s Levin College of Law. Nelson, of Jacksonville, is state attorney in the 4th Judicial Circuit. Andrews, of Oldsmar, is a judge in the 6th Judicial Circuit. Bevan, of Bradenton, is chief of the Bradenton Police Department. Nocco, of Land O’ Lakes, is the Pasco County sheriff.

KAREN MOORE AND ERIC GRANT have been reappointed by Gov. Ron DeSantis to the Tallahassee Community College Board of Trustees. Moore, of Tallahassee, is chief executive officer of Moore, Inc. Grant, of Tallahassee, is president of Municipal Code Corp.

JENNIFER BROWN, WAYNE YOUNG, THOMAS MCGEHEE JR. AND DAVID HAWKINS have been appointed or reappointed by Gov. Ron DeSantis to the Florida State College at Jacksonville Board of Trustees. Brown, of Jacksonville, is executive director of KIPP Jacksonville Charter Schools. Young, of Jacksonville, is director of response and environmental programs for JEA. McGehee, of Jacksonville, is executive vice president and owner of Mac Papers, Inc. Hawkins, of Jacksonville, is chief executive of Stein Mart Inc. 

SPENCER LEVINE has been elected chief judge of the 4th District Court of Appeal, which is based in West Palm Beach. Levine has served as a judge on the court since 2009.

MIKE POUCHER, ALLEN PUTNAM, JAMES BRADDOCK AND ROB MCGARRAH have been elected as officers of the Florida Municipal Electric Association. Poucher, director for Ocala Electric Utility, will serve as president. Putnam, director of Beaches Energy Services in Jacksonville Beach, will serve as president-elect. James Braddock, director of support services and internal auditing for the city of Wauchula, will serve as vice president. Rob McGarrah, general manager of the city of Tallahassee electric utility, will serve as secretary-treasurer.

NICOLETTE SPRINGER has been named director of government affairs and development for the League of Women Voters of Florida. Springer served as the league’s advocate for the 2019 legislative session.

CHRISTOPHER SMITH, DAVID WOOD AND SUSAN ALLAN have been elected to leadership positions with the Florida Maritime Partnership. Smith, who works for TOTE, will serve as president. Wood, who works for Crowley Maritime Corp., will serve as vice president. Allan, who works for Overseas Shipholding Group, Inc., will serve as treasurer.

JESSICA COSTELLO AND FOROUGH HOSSEINI have been appointed by Gov. Ron DeSantis to the Florida Children and Youth Cabinet. Costello, of Tampa, is a Hillsborough County judge. Hosseini, of Ormond Beach, is executive vice president for ICI Homes.

RUSSELL MAYER AND EDWIN STEWART have been appointed by Gov. Ron DeSantis to the Florida Barbers’ Board. Mayer, of Casselberry, is a retired barber. Stewart, of Pensacola, is a barber at the Navy Exchange at Sherman Field. 

BRANNAN THOMAS has been named community relations manager for U.S. Sugar Corp. Thomas most recently served as director of business development for Transworld M & A.

JOE TAGGART has been named chief financial officer for McKibbon Hospitality. McKibbon most recently spent 12 years at Valley National Bank and its predecessor, USAmeriBank in Tampa.
