C. SHA’ RON JAMES has joined the Berger Singerman law firm. James most recently served as the state’s insurance consumer advocate.

LISA GOODNER KIEL has been named interim state courts administrator. Kiel served as state courts administrator from 2003 to 2014 and then worked as a consultant on justice-related issues.

CISSY PROCTOR has been named managing partner of the Tallahassee office of LSN Partners. Proctor most recently worked as executive director of the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity.

TOREY ALSTON has been named chief of staff at the Florida Department of Transportation. Alston’s previous positions have included working for the Florida Department of Management Services, Broward County Commission, Miami-Dade County public schools and the city of Gainesville.

DAVID ALTMAIER has been elected vice president of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners. Altmaier is the Florida insurance commissioner.

COLLEEN BURTON, MEL PONDER, BOBBY PAYNE AND STAN MCCLAIN have been named to positions by House Republican leaders. Burton, R-Lakeland, will serve as chief deputy whip. Ponder, R-Destin, Payne, R-Palatka, and McClain, R-Ocala, will serve as deputy whips.

TOM ROONEY has joined the law firm Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney. Rooney, a Florida Republican, served a decade in Congress before deciding against running for re-election last year.

MADELINE HOLZMANN has been named communications manager of the organization Florida Internet & Television. Holzmann previously worked as headquarters and logistics manager for Attorney General Ashley Moody’s election campaign.

PAUL RUNK has been named vice president of government programs for the Florida Association of Health Plans. Runk most recently served as director of legislative planning at the Florida Department of Health

SHANNAN DUNAWAY SCHUESSLER has joined The Fiorentino Group government-relations firm in its Tallahassee office. Schuessler previously served as chief of staff and director of legislative affairs at the Florida Department of Transportation.

CHRIS QUINN has joined the Wexford Strategies government- and public-affairs firm. Quinn most recently worked as vice president of industry and government affairs for the JAX Chamber.
