CHRIS KISE AND MIKE DEW have been named as advisers to Gov.-elect Ron DeSantis’ transition team. Kise, a partner at Foley & Lardner LLP, will serve as counselor to the transition. Dew, who most recently has worked as secretary of the Florida Department of Transportation, will serve as senior adviser for agency policy and personnel.

PATRICK MURPHY, DARREN SOTO, FRED GUTTENBERG, DAVE ARONBERG, ALLEN BOYD, SUSANNE CLEMONS, DARIN COOK, RICK DANTZLER, JERRY DEMINGS, DENISE GRIMSLEY, CHRIS HAND, JON MILLS, SAM POOLE, SCHERIL MURRAY POWELL AND DEAN SAUNDER have been named as the transition team for Agriculture Commissioner-elect Nikki Fried. Murphy, who will serve as chairman, is a former congressman. Soto, who will serve as co-vice chairman, is a congressman. Guttenberg, who will serve as a co-vice chairman, is the father of Jaime Guttenberg, who died in the Feb. 14 mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. Aronberg is the state attorney in Palm Beach County. Boyd is a former congressman. Clemons served as state chairperson of the USDA State Farm Service Committee from 2010 until 2016. Cook is co-founder and co-CEO of Infinite Energy. Dantzler is a former state senator. Demings has served as Orange County sheriff since 2008 and was recently elected as Orange County mayor. Grimsley is a former state senator. Hand is a Jacksonville-based attorney. Mills is a former state House speaker. Poole is a former executive director of the South Florida Water Management District. Powell is an agricultural and cannabis attorney. Saunders is a former state House member.

EVAN JENNE, KAMIA BROWN, BOBBY DUBOSE AND AMY MERCADO have been named by House Minority Leader Kionne McGhee, D-Miami, as co-chairs of the House Democratic Caucus policy team. Jenne, D-Dania Beach, represents Broward County’s House District 99. Brown, D-Ocoee, represents Orange County’s House District 45. DuBose, D-Fort Lauderdale, represents Broward County’s House District 94. Mercado, D-Orlando, represents Orange County’s House District 48.

PAT NEAL AND GEORGE LEMIEUX have been named to lead Florida TaxWatch in 2019. Neal, who will serve as chairman, is founder and chairman of Neal Communities and is a former state senator. LeMieux, who will serve as chairman-elect, is a former U.S. senator and is chairman of the Gunster law firm.

JUSTIN CAPORALE, JACLYN SCHWINGHAMER, JORDAN WIGGINS, NICOLE REES, RICK PORTER, GRETCHEN PICOTTE, IVEY ROONEY, HEATHER BARKER, MEREDITH BEATRICE, TARA REID, SARAH BASCOM, LYNDSEY BRZOZOWSKI, KRISTEN BRIDGES AND KATIE STRICKLAND have been named to staff positions for Gov.-elect Ron DeSantis’ inauguration. Caporale will serve as executive director. Schwinghamer will serve as deputy executive director. Wiggins will serve as director of operations. Rees will serve as chief of staff. Porter, Picotte and Rooney will serve as senior finance consultants. Barker will serve as finance director. Beatrice will serve as director of communications. Reid will serve as director of public liaison and outreach. Bascom, Brzozowski and Bridges will serve as senior communications advisers. Strickland will serve as press secretary.

CHRISTY ENGLAND has been named the state university system’s vice chancellor of academic and student affairs. England joined the system’s Board of Governors in August 2015 as associate vice chancellor for academic research and policy and became interim vice chancellor for academic affairs in July. 

DAVID BOYD GENSON has been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Florida Transportation Commission. Genson, of Naples, is senior vice president and director of land development of Barron Collier Companies.

JOE MARINO has been named executive director of the organization Veterans Florida. Marino is a West Point graduate and former Army officer.

MARIE WAUGH has been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the North Broward Hospital District Board of Commissioners. Waugh, of Fort Lauderdale, is chief human resources officer for APTIM.

DAVID JORDAN has been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott as Lake County tax collector. Jordan, of Tavares, has served as chief deputy tax collector since 1999.
