Young, Artiles rake in cash for Senate races

House Majority Leader Dana Young, R-Tampa, raised more than $53,000 in April as she tries to win a Senate seat, while Rep. Frank Artiles, R-Miami, continued widening his fundraising edge over Sen. Dwight Bullard, D-Miami, in a battle in a South Florida Senate district, newly filed finance reports show. Young, who is running in Hillsborough County's Senate District 18, brought in $53,350 during the month and had $259,818 in cash on hand as of April 30. Democrat Bob Buesing opened a campaign account May 2 to run for the seat and will not have to file a finance report until next month. In Miami-Dade's Senate District 40, Artiles pulled in $39,193 in April and had $237,882 in cash on hand. Bullard raised $2,590 during the month and had $21,713 on hand, according to the reports.
