The Week Ahead in Florida Politics – November 7, 2016

THE CAPITAL, TALLAHASSEE, NOVEMBER 4, 2016....... Florida is poised Tuesday to play a critical role in deciding whether Democrat Hillary Clinton or Republican Donald Trump will win the White House. But as the state's voters go to the polls, they also will resolve myriad down-ballot issues, including the winner of a U.S. Senate seat and whether to broadly legalize medical marijuana.

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 7, 2016

POLLUTION NOTICE CHANGES PROPOSED: The Florida Department of Environmental Protection will hold a hearing on a proposal that would create new requirements for notifying the public when pollution occurs. The proposal comes after high-profile pollution incidents. (Monday, 9 a.m., Marjory Stoneman Douglas Building, 3900 Commonwealth Blvd., Tallahassee.)

WASTEWATER RATES AT ISSUE: The Florida Public Service Commission will hold a pair of hearings related to proposed increases in wastewater rates in Monroe County by K W Resort Utilities Corp. (Monday, 9:30 a.m. and 6 p.m., Harvey Government Center, 1200 Truman Ave., Key West.)

ELECTION DAY: Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for the general election.

SUWANNEE RIVER WATER BOARD MEETS: The Suwannee River Water Management District Governing Board will meet in Alachua County. (Tuesday, 9 a.m., Alachua City Commission chamber, 15100 N.W. 142nd Terrace, Alachua.)

'PAYCHECKS FOR PATRIOTS' EVENTS HELD: "Paychecks for Patriots" job fairs will be held in Hernando and Okaloosa counties for veterans and military families.
