THRASHER MEETS WITH FSU GROUPS: Finalists to become president of Florida State University will start taking part in a series of forums with staff, faculty, students and the community. Finalist John Thrasher, a state senator from St. Augustine, will participate in the forums Monday and will be followed later in the week by the other three finalists. (Monday, 9:30 a.m., Augustus B. CASTOR TO DISCUSS DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ISSUES: U.S. Rep. Kathy Castor, D-Fla., will hold a media availability to discuss expansion of legal services for victims of domestic violence. (Monday, 10 a.m., The Spring Boutique, 3418 West Swann Ave., Tampa.)

MEDICAL MALPRACTICE LAW AT ISSUE: The 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals will hear arguments about a controversial medical-malpractice law approved in 2013 by Florida lawmakers. U.S. District Judge Robert Hinkle last year struck down part of the law dealing with what are known as "ex parte communications" in malpractice lawsuits. COURT CONSIDERS COLLEGE TENURE CASE: The 1st District Court of Appeal is scheduled to hear a challenge to a judge's ruling that that could make it harder for state-college instructors to receive and keep tenure-like contracts. The United Faculty of Florida has contended the state Board of Education overstepped its authority in approving a rule that set new guidelines for tenure-like "continuing" contracts at state colleges. MANAGED CARE, BEHAVIORAL HEALTH DISCUSSED: The state Agency for Health Care Administration will host two meetings that will include groups such as Medicaid managed-care plans, behavioral health providers and assisted-living administrators. The second meeting is aimed at finding ways to improve the provision of behavioral-health services to Medicaid beneficiaries in managed care. JUSTICES TO HEAR APPEAL IN PRISON GUARD MURDER: The Florida Supreme Court will hear arguments in four cases, including an appeal by Death Row inmate Dwight Eaglin, who was convicted of murdering Charlotte Correctional Institution Officer Darla Lathrem during an escape attempt in 2003. Eaglin also was convicted of killing fellow prisoner Charles Fuston. (Wednesday, 9 a.m., Florida Supreme Court, 500 South Duval St., Tallahassee.)

DEATH PENALTY CASES GO TO SUPREME COURT: The Florida Supreme Court will hear arguments in four cases, including appeals by Death Row inmates Pinkney Carter, who was convicted of killing three people in 2002 in Duval County, and Gerhard Hojan, who was convicted of killing two people in 2002 in Broward County. JUSTICES CONSIDER REDISTRICTING DOCUMENTS: The Florida Supreme Court will hear arguments about whether a Republican consulting firm's records should have been used in a recent trial about congressional redistricting. Consultant Pat Bainter appealed a ruling that allowed some of his records to be used in a case that found lawmakers in 2012 violated the state's constitutional ban on political gerrymandering. (Friday, 9 a.m., Florida Supreme Court, 500 South Duval St., Tallahassee.)

MARCHASE MEETS WITH FSU GROUPS: A finalist to become president of Florida State University will take part in a series of forums with staff, faculty, students and the community.
