Scott committee collects $4.5M in 2015

Gov. Rick Scott's "Let's Get to Work" political committee raised $518,150 in December, bringing its overall total in 2015 to $4.5 million, according to a campaign-finance report posted online Monday.

The committee has played a pivotal role in Scott's political success, including paying for ads that support his priorities as governor. As an example, it has released an ad calling on lawmakers to back Scott's legislative priorities, which include cutting taxes and boosting money for economic incentives.

Among contributors in December, the committee received $25,000 from the telecommunications firm Verizon and $25,000 from the health-care firm Centene Management Co. As of Dec. 31, the committee had more than $1.5 million in cash on hand, according to the report.
