Rooney draws Democratic challenger

State Rep. Patrick Rooney, R-West Palm Beach, has drawn a Democratic foe as he seeks a fourth term in the Florida House. Palm Beach Gardens Democrat Gerald "Jay" Rideout opened a campaign account Monday to run in Palm Beach County's House District 85, according to the state Division of Elections website. Rooney, who is chairman of the House Transportation & Ports Subcommittee, had raised $38,250 for his re-election bid as of Feb. 29 and had about $30,000 in available cash, finance records show.
