Republicans seek Santiago, Pilon House seats

BY THE NEWS SERVICE OF FLORIDA

With incumbents David Santiago and Ray Pilon expected to run for other offices this fall, two Republicans have opened campaign accounts this week to try to succeed them in the Florida House, according to the state Division of Elections website. Deltona Republican William McBride opened an account Tuesday to run in House District 27, which includes part of Volusia County. Santiago, R-Deltona, plans to run for a congressional seat this fall. Other candidates seeking to succeed Santiago are Deltona Republican Zenaida Denizac and no-party candidates Randi Doan and Donald Mair, both of Deltona. Meanwhile, in Southwest Florida, Sarasota Republican Alexandra Miller opened an account Monday to run in Sarasota County's House District 72. She will seek to replace Rep. Ray Pilon, a Sarasota Republican who plans to run for the state Senate this year. Also running for the House seat is Sarasota Democrat Edward James.
