Putnam committee continues piling up cash

BY THE NEWS SERVICE OF FLORIDA

A political committee tied to Florida Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam raised $129,000 in November, bringing its total to nearly $3.22 million since the beginning of March, according to a newly filed finance report. The committee, known as "Florida Grown,'' spent $89,615 in November and had about $2.5 million in available cash as of Nov. 30. Contributions in November included $25,000 from the Florida Medical Association and $25,000 from Ware Oil & Supply Inc., a Perry oil distributor.

While not on the ballot in 2016, Putnam is a potential candidate for governor in 2018. State candidates and political committees face a Thursday night deadline for filing updated finance reports. Among the other new filings, a committee led by House Speaker Steve Crisafulli, R-Merritt Island, reported raising $73,500 in November. That committee, known as "Growing Florida's Future," had about $386,000 in available cash as of Nov. 30. Contributions last month included $15,000 from a Motorola Solutions Inc. PAC.
