PLANTE DIAGNOSED WITH ALS

By the News Service of Florida

Former legislator and longtime lobbyist Ken Plante has been diagnosed with ALS, commonly known as Lou Gehrig's Disease, the Tampa Bay Times reported Sunday. Plante was elected to the Senate as a Republican in 1967 and served until 1978 and since then has been one of the respected lobbyists at the Capitol, and now is one of the deans of the lobbying corps. Plante told the Times that he is working on writing at least one book and several other projects and will continue to work from home. "I plan on being here a while," he told the newspaper.
