GIL ZIFFER has been elected president of the Florida League of Cities. Ziffer has served on the Tallahassee City Commission since 2009.

MIKE BELL has been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Florida State College at Jacksonville Board of Trustees. Bell, of Fernandina Beach, is vice president of public affairs at Rayonier, Inc.

BRUCE LAISHLEY has been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Florida SouthWestern State College Board of Trustees. Laishley, of Punta Gorda, is co-owner of Smuggler's Enterprises, Inc, CEO of Florida Premier Contractors, LLC and co-owner of Southwest Land Developers, Inc.

JAMES “JIM” DEAN has been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Chipola College Board of Trustees. Dean, of Marianna, is the Marianna city manager.

MARILYN PEARSON-ADAMS has been reappointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Pasco-Hernando State College Board of Trustees. Pearson-Adams, of Brooksville, is president of Century 21 Alliance Realty.

JIM HOLTON, MELANIE GRIFFIN AND CLIFF MANUEL have been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Tampa Bay Area Regional Transit Authority. Holton, of Indian Shores, is president and owner of Holton Companies. Griffin, of Tampa, is a shareholder at Dean Mead Law Firm. Manuel, of Brooksville, is CEO of Coastal Engineering Associates, Inc.

DAVID COMPTON, JAY CARLSON, CHARLES FRANK, DAVID GILSON, NANETTE DEAN AND DON WHITEHEAD have been appointed or reappointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Florida Building Commission. Compton, of Lutz, is president of Bracken Engineering, Inc. Carlson, of Port Charlotte, is president of Carlson and Soforth Construction. Frank, of Navarre, is a training and research consultant for the Florida Department of Financial Services. Gilson, of New Port Richey, is a building inspector for the city of Tarpon Springs. Dean, of Fort Myers, is president of Dean Steel Buildings, Inc. Whitehead, of Monticello, is the safe and efficient facilities design manager for the Florida Department of Education. 

ARTHUR “CHIP” DIEHL III AND GARY HARROD have been reappointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Hillsborough County Aviation Authority. Diehl, of Tampa, is managing director of Diehl and Associates and a retired brigadier general with the United States Air Force. Harrod, of Tampa, is CEO of Harrod Properties, Inc.

LAURA RAYBIN MILLER AND JOSE BASULTO have been reappointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the South Broward Hospital District Board of Commissioners. Raybin Miller, of Hollywood, is associate vice president of UBS Financial Services. Basulto, of Hallandale Beach, is founder and president of Basulto Management.

CESAR FERNANDEZ has been appointed to the Board of Governors of the Florida State Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Fernandez is a senior public policy associate for Uber in Florida. 

RON DUELL has been reappointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Jackson County Hospital District. Duell, of Alford, is former assistant vice president of SunTrust Investment Services.
