CONNIE SMITH has been appointed by Education Commissioner Pam Stewart as chair of the Florida Education Foundation. Smith serves as program manager for the Wells Fargo Works for Small Business: Diverse Community Capital Program.

TAMELA PERDUE has been named to the Volunteer Florida Foundation Board of Directors. Perdue is senior vice president of legislative and government affairs for Sunshine Health.

ROBERT WEXLER has joined the Ballard Partners lobbying firm in its Washington, D.C., office. Wexler is a former Democratic congressman from South Florida.

ZACH LEARNER, RAYMOND PAULTRE, STEPHANIE MCCLUNG, AMANDA SANDS, RAUL MARTINEZ JR. AND JUANICA FERNANDES have been named to positions with Democrat Chris King's gubernatorial campaign. Learner will serve as chief operating officer and general counsel. Paultre will serve as director of strategic engagement. McClung will serve as finance director. Sands will serve as digital director. Martinez will serve as South Florida regional director. Fernandes will serve as regional finance associate.

JASON EMILIOS DIMITRIS has been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott as a judge in the 11th Judicial Circuit. Dimitris, of Coral Gables, has served as a Miami-Dade County judge since 2013.

STEVEN A. WELLINS has been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the North Broward Hospital District Board of Commissioners. Wellins, of Fort Lauderdale, is senior vice president of investments for Wells Fargo Advisors, LLC.

TIM CHAPIN has been named dean of the Florida State University College of Social Sciences and Public Policy. Chapin, who has served as interim dean since May, previously was chairman of the Department of Urban and Regional Planning.

AMY HECHT has been named vice president for student affairs at Florida State University. Hecht most recently has worked as vice president for student affairs at The College of New Jersey.

LESLEY THOMPSON, DANIEL COLL AND JAMES MUIR have been appointed or reappointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Lower Florida Keys Hospital District. Thompson, of Summerland Key, is principal director of exceptional school education for the Monroe County School District. Coll, of Key West, is a former business owner and property investor. Muir, of Little Torch Key, is a former Naval officer and is a pilot for FedEx

CHRISTOPHER JOSON has been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott as a special officer of CSX Transportation. Joson, of Fleming Island, currently serves as a special agent with the CSX Transportation Police.
