JARYN EMHOF has been named chief of staff and communications director for Republican Congressman Daniel Webster. Emhof has most recently worked as vice president of communications for the Foundation for Excellence in Education and Excellence in Education in Action.

KATHY MEARS has been named chief legislative affairs officer for Florida State University. Mears has held a number of positions in the Legislature, most recently serving as chief of staff to House Speaker Steve Crisafulli, R-Merritt Island.

BRIAN LOGAN has been named assistant vice chancellor for public policy and advocacy at the state university system's Board of Governors. Logan's previous positions included staff director for the Florida House majority leader.

THOMAS GRIFFIN has joined the lobbying firm Smith, Bryan & Myers. Griffin's previous positions have included serving as chief of staff to Sen. Rob Bradley, R-Fleming Island.

NICHOLAS MATTHEWS has joined the lobbying practice of the firm Becker & Poliakoff. Matthews is a former lobbyist for Broward County and also has served as chief of staff for state Sen. Eleanor Sobel, D-Hollywood.

SHARON TROST has joined the public-affairs firm Anfield Consulting. Trost previously held a variety of positions with the South Florida Water Management District, most recently serving as director of regulation.

SHERRI ATWELL has been named director of produce recovery for Feeding Florida, a statewide network of food banks. Atwell previously worked in the state Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services' Florida Farm to School program.

COURTNEY HEIDELBERG has been named public-relations and communications manager for Brightway Insurance. Heidelberg previously worked at On 3 Public Relations in Tallahassee and as communications director for the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles.

SONYA DEEN HARTLEY, JOHN ROOD AND BELINDA KEISER have been appointed or reappointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Enterprise Florida Board of Directors. Hartley, of Fort Lauderdale, is a vice president with JM Family Enterprises. Rood, of Jacksonville, is chairman of The Vestcor Companies, Inc. Keiser, of Parkland, is vice chancellor of Keiser University.

FRANK CLARK, KEEF OWENS, THOMAS HEDLER, JONATHAN WALKER AND GREGORY JOHNSEN have been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott as judges of compensation claims. Clark, of Port Charlotte, has been an associate with All Injuries Law Firm, P.A. since 2007. Owens, of Orlando, has been an attorney with Zimmerman, Kiser & Sutcliffe since 2002. Hedler, of West Palm Beach, has been a partner with Wender, Hedler & Hesser, P.A. since 2011. Walker, of Pace, has been a managing partner with Conroy Simberg since 2002. Johnsen, of Pembroke Pines, has been a state mediator since 2006.

TANIA GALLONI has been named managing attorney for the Florida office of Earthjustice. Galloni has served since 2011 as managing attorney of the Southern Poverty Law Center's Florida office.
