ERIK KIRK has joined the government-affairs and business-consulting firm PooleMcKinley. Kirk previously founded Kirk Consulting Group.

RYAN BANFILL has been named communications director for the Florida Justice Association. Banfill's previous positions have included senior vice president at Sachs Media Group, staff director for the Florida Senate Democratic Caucus and communications director for the Florida Democratic Party.

KENT FUCHS will join the National Science Board as an appointee of President Barack Obama. Fuchs is president of the University of Florida.

JIM BURKHART has been elected chairman of the board of the Florida Hospital Association. Burkhart is president and CEO of Tampa General Hospital.

BEV CAPASSO has been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the North Broward Hospital District Board of Commissioners. Capasso, of Parkland, is former senior vice president and chief executive officer of Jackson Memorial Hospital.

SUSAN SCHANDEL AND DAN FRANCATI have been reappointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Halifax Hospital Medical Center Board of Commissioners. Schandel, of Ormond Beach, has been senior vice president and chief financial officer of NASCAR since 2008. Francati, of Ormond Beach, is former president of the Daytona Beach Kennel Club.

ALEXANDER S. BOKOR has been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott as a Miami-Dade County judge. Bokor, of Miami, has been an assistant county attorney for Miami-Dade County since 2008.

DANIELLE L. BREWER has been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott as a DeSoto County judge. Brewer, of Arcadia, has been an associate attorney with Swaine & Harris, P.A. since 2012.

ELLEN DONALD has been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Board of Physical Therapy Practice. Donald, of Fort Myers, is an assistant professor at Florida Gulf Coast University.

DAVID ROGERS has joined the health-care consulting firm Health Management Associates. Rogers is a former assistant deputy secretary at the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration.

SERGIO GONZALEZ-ARIAS has been named executive associate dean for clinical affairs at Florida International University's Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. Gonzalez-Arias is chief of neurological surgery at Baptist Hospital and chair of the Department of Neuroscience at FIU's College of Medicine.
