CRAIG VARN has been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Environmental Regulation Commission. Varn, of Tallahassee, is an attorney with Manson Bolves Donaldson Varn and previously served as general counsel at the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.

GEORGE FEIJOO has been hired by the government-affairs and consulting firm Floridian Partners, LLC. Feijoo has worked more than five years for the state Office of Insurance Regulation, most recently overseeing the approval of property and casualty contracts within several lines of insurance.

JOSHONDA GUERRIER AND JERI FLORA CULLEY have been appointed assistant secretaries at the Florida Department of Children and Families. Guerrier, who has served as director of child welfare strategic projects, will serve as assistant secretary for the Office of Child Welfare. Culley, who has served as program director for economic self-sufficiency, will serve as assistant secretary for economic self-sufficiency.

WALTER SACHS has been named regional managing director for the Florida Department of Children and Families' Northwest region. Sachs previously served as inspector general for the Department of Management Services and also retired from the U.S. Army as a captain.

KELLEY SMITH BURK has been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Florida Building Commission. Smith Burk, of Tallahassee, is the Office of Energy director for the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.

TIMOTHY BOLDUC AND EDWIN VALENTIN have been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Florida Building Code Administrators and Inspectors Board. Bolduc, of Fort Walton Beach, is development services manager for the city of Fort Walton Beach. Valentin, of Orlando, is a building inspector for the city of Winter Haven.

BARBARA INGRAM RICE AND HEIDI ROECK-SIMMONS have been appointed or reappointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Board of Occupational Therapy. Ingram Rice, of Sarasota, is an adjunct professor with the OTA Program for State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota. Roeck-Simmons, of Tallahassee, is vice president of operations for Health Connections Rehab Services. 

FRANCIS X. SUAREZ has joined the law firm GrayRobinson. Suarez is a Miami city commissioner and has been with the firm Alvarez & Barbara LLP.

RICKY JONES AND MICHAEL THORNBURG have been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Eastpoint Water and Sewer District. Jones, of Eastpoint, is manager of Gander Autoparts. Thornburg, of Eastpoint, is owner of TTC Storage LLC.

ARTIE LEICHNER has been named a senior policy adviser with the Miami-Dade Democratic Party. Leichner is a former teacher, first vice president of the United Teachers of Dade and treasurer of the South Florida AFL-CIO.
