GARY CHARTRAND AND JOHN COLON have been reappointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the State Board of Education. Chartrand, of Ponte Vedra Beach, is executive chairman of Acosta Inc. Colón, of University Park, is a senior vice president at Wells Fargo Advisors.

MAURICE FERRE AND KENNETH WRIGHT have been reappointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Florida Transportation Commission. Ferre, of Miami, is a former mayor of Miami. Wright, of Winter Park, is an attorney and partner with Shutts & Bowen LLP.

PAULA DOCKERY has joined the board of directors of the League of Women Voters of Florida. Dockery served 16 years in the Florida House and Senate and is now a political columnist.

SANDI POREDA has launched a communications firm, Bulldog Strategy Group. Poreda's previous positions have included serving as communications director for former Attorney General Bill McCollum.

JESSICA BAKER has joined the Ballard Partners government-affairs firm. Baker, who will be based in the firm's Jacksonville office, previously worked as an associated and lobbyist at Sachs Sax Caplan, P.L.

DAN PETERSON AND DON ORRICO have been named to positions with the James Madison Institute. Peterson, former executive director of the Orlando-based Coalition for Property Rights, will direct the institute's new Center for Property Rights. Orrico, formerly with the Republican Party of Florida, will be the institute's Southwest Florida development director.

STEPHANIE SCUDERI has been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Florida Keys Community College District Board of Trustees. Scuderi, of Tavernier, is the senior vice president and director of business development for Centennial Bank.

GEORGE "BLAKE" FLETCHER, CARIDAD “CARRIE” LEE, ARLEY MCRAE, JEFFREY OODY AND ROBERT WOODY have been appointed or reappointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Santa Fe College District Board of Trustees. Fletcher, of Gainesville, is chief operating officer of Fletcher Family Companies. Lee, of Alachua, is vice president of Florida Woodland and owner of Florida Blue Farms Inc. McRae, of Starke, retired from the United States Air Force as a colonel. Oody, of Starke, is president and director of Community State Bank. Woody, of Gainesville, is a retired deputy secretary of the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice.

THOMAS BEAVER, PEDRAG BULIC, MARTA COBURN, REBECCA HAMILTON, MARIE HERRMANN, RIAZUL IMAMI, ROGER MITTLEMAN AND SAJID QAISER have been appointed or reappointed by Gov. Rick Scott as district medical examiners. Beaver, of Marathon, has been appointed in District 16. Bulic, of St. Augustine, has been reappointed in District 23. Coburn, of Naples, has been reappointed in District 20. Hamilton, of Alva, has been reappointed in District 21. Herrmann, of Ormond Beach, has been reappointed in District 24. Imami, of Port Charlotte, has been reappointed in District 22. Mittleman, of Palm City, has been reappointed in District 19. Qaiser, of Melbourne, has been reappointed in District 18.

MARCY DRISCOLL has been appointed president of the Council of Academic Deans from Research Education Institutions. Driscoll is dean of the Florida State University College of Education.

JAMES SPAFFORD has been reappointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Board of Occupational Therapy Practice. Spafford, of Loxahatchee, is the managing member of Tradewinds Healthcare International.

SUSAN ROLSTON, BRIAN AUNGST JR. AND JAMES SEWELL have been appointed or reappointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Juvenile Welfare Board of Pinellas County. Rolston, of St. Petersburg, is a retired chief executive officer of Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Pinellas County. Aungst, of Clearwater, is an attorney and shareholder with Macfarlane, Ferguson, McMullen. Sewell, of St. Petersburg, is a retired assistant commissioner for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
