CHRIS CATE has been named vice president of corporate communications for 180 Communications, a Tallahassee-based public-relations firm. Cate's past roles have included working as communications director for the Florida secretary of state and for the state chief financial officer.

STEPHEN D. BAHMER has been named chief executive officer of LeadingAge Florida, a trade association representing the continuum of care for senior citizens. Bahmer has served as chief executive officer of LeadingAge Wyoming.

JASON D. BERGER AND BARBARA A. COOK have been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the 19th Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission. Berger, of Palm City, is an attorney with the Law Office of Jason Berger, P.A. Cook, of Stuart, is the sole proprietor of Barbara A. Kreitz Cook, Esq.

STEVE WILLIAMS has been named by Harris Corp. as operations manager of Florida's statewide law-enforcement radio system. Williams formerly served as chief technology officer of the Florida Highway Patrol.

J. CHARLES "CHARLIE" GRAY has been selected by the Florida Chamber Foundation to serve as co-chair of the "Blueprint for Florida's Innovation Economy" research report. Gray is chairman of the board and founding director of the GrayRobinson law firm.

PENNY WALKER BOS has been appointed executive director of the League of Women Voters of Florida. Bos' past roles have included working as a lobbyist, a legislative committee staff member and a legislative aide.

JOHN E. BENKERT has been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Hendry County School Board. Benkert, of LaBelle, has been chief executive officer of CPR Tools since 2004.

SHARON M. FRANKLIN has been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott as a Polk County judge. Franklin, of Lakeland, has served as an assistant state attorney in the 10th Judicial Circuit since 2004.

LAURA RUMPH has been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Florida Interagency Coordinating Council for Infants and Toddlers. Rumph, of Tallahassee, is a senior management analyst supervisor with the Florida Department of Health.

ROBERT W. HEINE AND JANIE E. WATSON have been appointed or reappointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the DeSoto County Hospital Board. Heine, of Arcadia, is a retired assistant warden with the Florida Department of Corrections. Watson, of Arcadia, is a retired human-resources director.

ALAN L. SWARTZ has been reappointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Pinellas County Housing Authority. Swartz, of Pinellas Park, is a certified public accountant with Swartz and Company PA.

MARTHA TUTCHTONE has been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Early Learning Coalition of Escambia County. Tutchtone, of Gulf Breeze, is human-resources director for Gulf Power Co.
