MICHAEL WILLIAMS has been hired as managing director of media relations for the public-relations firm CoreMessage, Inc. Williams most recently served as communications director for House Speaker Steve Crisafulli, R-Merritt Island.

DON THOMAS HALL has been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott as a judge in the 12th Judicial Circuit, which includes DeSoto, Manatee and Sarasota counties. Hall, of Arcadia, has served as a DeSoto County judge since 1995.

ROBERT E. LONG JR. has been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott as a judge in the 2nd Judicial Circuit, which includes Franklin, Gadsden, Jefferson, Liberty, Leon and Wakulla counties. Long, of Tallahassee, has served as general counsel for the Leon County Sheriff's Office since 2014. 

MICHAEL P. MCDANIEL has been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott as a judge in the 10th Judicial Circuit, which includes Hardee, Highlands and Polk counties. McDaniel, of Lakeland, is owner of the McDaniel Law Firm.

GARY L. SANDERS has been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott as a judge in the 5th Judicial Circuit, which includes Citrus, Hernando, Lake, Marion and Sumter counties. Sanders, of Ocala, has been with the Bice Cole Law Firm, P.L. since 2000.

ZACHARY M. GILL has been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott as a Lee County judge. Gill, of Fort Myers, has been a partner with Goldstein, Buckley, Cechman, Rice, and Purtz, P.A. 

KAREN GIORNO will serve as a national senior adviser and as Florida chief strategist for the Donald Trump presidential campaign. Giorno has served as Florida state director and Southeast regional political director.

JOHN ROOD has been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Florida Prepaid College Board. Rood, of Jacksonville, is chairman of the Vestcor Companies Inc. and served from 2004 to 2007 as U.S. ambassador to the Bahamas.

JOHN LUX AND KELLY PAIGE have been named to top positions at Film Florida, Inc. Lux has been hired as executive director, while Paige will serve as president for 2016-2017.

ESTER "SHELLY" FANO AND LEONARD BOORD have been appointed or reappointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Miami-Dade County Expressway Authority. Fano, of Cutler Bay, is director of the hospitality management program at Miami Dade College. Boord, of Coral Gables, is founder and chief executive officer of Slon Capital.

NEAL CARBAUGH, SIMON CANASI AND ERNIE TRICHLER have been appointed or reappointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Hillsborough County Civil Service Board. Carbaugh, of Plant City, is a retired F-16 pilot with the United States Air Force. Canasi, of Tampa, is a senior vice president and wealth management adviser with Morgan Stanley. Trichler, of Tampa, is an attorney with Mandelbaum Trichler Law Center.
