SADIE DARNELL has been elected president of the Florida Sheriffs Association. Darnell is the Alachua County sheriff.
MONESIA BROWN, JUAN "J.C." FLORES AND MICHAEL A. JENNINGS have been appointed to the Volunteer Florida Foundation Board of Directors. Brown is director of public affairs and government relations for Walmart, representing Walmart and Sam's Club in Florida. Flores is vice president of governmental affairs for AT&T Florida. Jennings is vice president of government affairs for the Southeast region of Prudential Financial.
KEVIN FRANCK has been named a senior adviser to Florida Congressman Alan Grayson's 2016 U.S. Senate campaign. Franck is a former Massachusetts Democratic Party spokesman and also has held roles such as press secretary for the Louisiana Democratic Party.
MOSES HARVIN AND RONALD HOWSE have been appointed or reappointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Eastern Florida State College Board of Trustees. Harvin, of Melbourne, has been president and chief executive officer of American Services Technology Inc since 1995. Howse, of Cocoa, is a self-employed investor, licensed civil engineer and land surveyor.
JACK WEISS, MARGARET SOJOURNER, SYLVIA MEDINA-SHORE and GERALDINE HOGAN have been appointed or reappointed by Gov. Rick Scott as judges of compensation claims. Weiss, of Fort Myers, has practiced at Conroy Simberg since 2012. Sojourner, of Lakeland, has been a judge of compensation claims since 2010. Medina-Shore, of Miami, has been a judge of compensation claims since 2000. Hogan, of Fort Lauderdale, has been a judge of compensation claims since 2006.

Alden is with Disability Rights Florida; Baluga, a psychiatrist, is with Florida State Hospital; Doswell is a brain injury specialist; Gallagher is with the state Agency for Persons with Disabilities; Jackson is with Florida State Hospital; Martino is with Gulfstream Goodwill Industries, Inc.; Piper is president of Piper Medical, Mobility & Accessibility; Rice is with Tampa General Hospital; Szymanski is retired; Thompson is with West Florida Rehabilitation Institute; and Zeidman is retired.
