JERRY DEMINGS has been elected president of the Florida Sheriffs Association. Demings, of Orlando, has served as Orange County sheriff since 2008.

RANDY HANNA has been named interim dean of Florida State University's Panama City campus. Hanna serves as a research faculty member at the university's Learning Systems Institute and previously worked as chancellor of the Florida College System.

ANNE SWERLICK has joined the health-care advocacy organization Florida CHAIN as policy director. Swerlick's previous positions included executive director and deputy director of advocacy with Florida Legal Services.

AMY BISCEGLIA has joined The Rubin Group governmental-affairs firm. Bisceglia's previous positions have included working in the communications department at The Florida Lottery and in Gov. Rick Scott's administration.

JOHN CRAWFORD has been elected president of the Florida Court Clerks & Comptrollers Board of Directors. Crawford is the clerk of circuit court and comptroller in Nassau County.

DAVID VASQUEZ has been named campaign manager for state Rep. Bob Cortes' re-election campaign. Vasquez most recently served on the communications staff of the Ron DeSantis for Senate campaign.

KEITH E. SONDERLING, ALEXIS M. YARBROUGH, DEBRA A. JENKS AND SUSAN H. APRILL have been appointed or reappointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the 4th District Court of Appeal Judicial Nominating Commission. Sonderling, of Boca Raton, is an attorney and shareholder with Gunster Yoakley Stewart, P.A. Yarbrough, of Fort Lauderdale, formerly served as the general counsel of the Florida Department of Transportation. Jenks, of West Palm Beach, is an attorney and owner of Jenks & Harvey LLP. Aprill, of Hollywood, is an attorney and shareholder with Fowler White Burnett, P.A.

ROBERT W. BATSEL JR. has been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the 5th Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission. Batsel, of Ocala, is general counsel and director of governmental relations for the College of Central Florida.

JOHN REID has been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the 7th Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission. Reid, of Daytona Beach, is an assistant state attorney in the 7th Judicial Circuit.

BRANDON R. BURG has been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the 14th Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission. Burg, of Panama City, is an attorney with Harrison Sale McCloy. 

HOWARD BELL, PAUL EDWARDS, LENORA MARTEN AND BRUCE MILES have been appointed or reappointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Florida Rehabilitation Council for the Blind. Bell, of St. Petersburg, is an advocate investigator with Disability Rights Florida. Edwards, of Miami, formerly served as director of access services with Miami Dade College. Marten, of Jacksonville, is a tutor with the National Federation of the Blind. Miles, of Marco Island, is a retired Realtor.
