HERSHEL LYONS has been appointed by Education Commissioner Pam Stewart as K-12 public schools chancellor. Lyons has served since October 2013 as deputy superintendent of schools in Alachua County.

KEVIN PRICE AND KENNETH SMITH have been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Florida Gulf Coast University Board of Trustees. Price, of Estero, is a sales leader with Gartner Inc. Smith, of Fort Myers, is executive vice president and chief operating officer of Alico Inc. and the owner of Integrated Beef Consultants.

WILL WEATHERFORD has joined the board of directors of the Florida Chamber of Commerce. Weatherford, managing partner of Weatherford Partners, served from 2012 to 2014 as speaker of the Florida House.

RANDY HANNA has rejoined the firm Bryant Miller Olive. Hanna most recently served as chancellor of the Florida College System and previously was managing shareholder of Bryant Miller Olive.

CORY GUZZO has joined the Floridian Partners public-affairs and lobbying firm. Guzzo is a former political liaison at the Republican Party of Florida who also has worked for former state Rep. Seth McKeel, R-Lakeland, and former Rep. Doug Holder, R-Venice.

CARI ROTH has joined the Tallahassee office of the firm Dean Mead. Her previous positions included serving as general counsel and assistant secretary of the Florida Department of Community Affairs.

JOHN N. BRYANT has been named assistant secretary for substance abuse and mental health at the Florida Department of Children and Families. Bryant most recently has served as a vice president at the Florida Council for Community and Mental Health.

ALEXIS YARBROUGH has been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the 17th Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission. Yarbrough, of Fort Lauderdale, is a community volunteer and formerly served as general counsel of the Florida Department Transportation.

SARAH TYSON has been hired by the Salter>Mitchell public-relations and marketing firm as social media manager. Tyson most recently worked for tbt*, a free publication of the Tampa Bay Times.

ABIGAIL MACIVER has been named vice president of state operations for the Partnership for Affordable Clean Energy (PACE). MacIver most recently served as deputy state director for Americans for Prosperity-Florida and previously was chief of staff to former Sen. Lee Constantine, R-Altamonte Springs.

THOMAS LUZIER AND POUL HORNSLETH have been appointed or reappointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Florida Real Estate Commission. Luzier, of Sarasota, is an attorney with Dunlap and Moran PA. Hornsleth, of Gulfport, is president of R.W. Caldwell Inc.

EDDIE HALL, KEVIN JOHNSON, FRANK SHALETT, PAT ARCHER, RIXYS ALFONSO, RICHARD "DICK" BRADLEY, KATHY LEIGH, BERNADETTE MORAN AND MARGARET REILLY have been appointed or reappointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Florida Developmental Disabilities Council. Hall, of Lakeland, is a sales representative for Home Depot Inc. Johnson, of Celebration, is executive director of Bishop Grady Villas. Shalett, of Fort Lauderdale, is an advocate for persons with disabilities. Archer, of Boca Raton, is the front service clerk for Publix Supermarkets. Alfonso, of Pembroke Pines, is CEO of CauseMo Marketing LLC. Bradley, of Gainesville, is vice president of The Arc of Florida. Leigh, of Starke, is an advocate for persons with disabilities. Moran, of Jacksonville, is owner of Premium Promotions Concepts. Reilly, of Bradenton, is director of occupational and physical therapy at All Children’s Hospital.

AMY SMITH has been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Florida Cancer Control and Research Advisory Council. Smith, of Orlando, is director of the Pediatric Brain Tumor Program with the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children.

CHARLES BROOKS III, ROBERT DOYLE III, MICHAEL WISEMAN, SANDRA MARTIN AND GLORIA MILLS have been appointed or reappointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Rehabilitation Council for the Blind. Brooks, of Kissimmee, is a retired buyer for the Osceola County school district. Doyle, of Tallahassee, is division director of the Florida Department of Education Division of Blind Services. Wiseman, of Hialeah, is an advocate for persons with disabilities. Martin, of Fort Myers, is a marketing representative for Lighthouse of Southwest Florida. Mills, of Tampa, is a tax accountant with IReScue Tax.

GEORGE TURNER has been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission. Turner, of Brooksville, is the Brooksville police chief.

ALAN PLANTE has been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Public Swimming and Bathing Facilities Advisory Review Board. Plante, of Orlando, is a building official with the Orange County Division of Building Safety.

DAVID DENNIS, MARTIN FENNEMA AND H. STEVEN VOGEL have been reappointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Board of Accountancy. Dennis, of Longwood, is a partner with KPMG LLP. Fennema, of Tallahassee, is a professor at Florida State University. Vogel, of Key Biscayne, is an attorney and partner with Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP.

KRISTIN RUTLAND AND SERGIO GUERREIRO have been reappointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Board of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology. Rutland, of Palm Harbor, is a speech language pathologist for the Pinellas County schools. Guerreiro, of Wellington, is director of clinical operations for the Department of Otolaryngology in the Division of Audiology at the University of Miami School of Medicine.

PAMELA DECHMEROWSKI has been reappointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Board of Hearing Aid Specialists. Dechmerowski, of Orlando, is the senior hearing aid specialist for a Costco Hearing Aid Department.

MICHAEL LEDBETTER has been elected chairman of the Pasco County Democratic Executive Committee. Ledbetter, a former Pasco County commissioner, owns a consulting business.

MICHAEL WOOD has been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott as Leon County sheriff. Wood, of Tallahassee, has most recently served as undersheriff.

NORMA SUTTON, CHERYL MILLER, LESLIE CERVENKA AND MARK GRIFFITH have been appointed or reappointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the West Orange Healthcare District. Sutton, of Windermere, is a retired business executive. Miller, of Windermere, is a community volunteer. Cervenka, of Windermere, is vice president of Cervenka Developments. Griffith, of Windermere, is a certified financial planner with Griffith Financial Services.

HEATHER HANCOCK has been reappointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Children's Services Council of Okeechobee County. Hancock, of Okeechobee, is an executive assistant at CenterState Bank.

DAVID WALLS, CHRISTOPHER GAZES, RONALD MANN, POLLY GORE AND JOYCE DAVIS have been appointed or reappointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Baker County Development Commission. Walls, of Sanderson, is a retired special agent with the Federal Aviation Administration. Gazes, of Glen St. Mary, is owner and president of GF Florida Operating Alpha Inc. Mann, of Sanderson, is a sales and technical representative for American Wire Mesh Corporation. Gore, 78, of Macclenny, is the judicial assistant to Judge Joseph Williams. Davis, of Glen St. Mary, is a retired general manager of Insteel Wire Products.

MICHAEL MCCORMICK has been reappointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Holmes County Hospital Corporation. McCormick, of Bonifay, is a paramedic supervisor with Holmes County EMS.
