BRIAN SWENSEN has been named senior vice president with the public-strategy firm Mercury. Swensen most recently worked as deputy campaign manager for U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio's re-election campaign.

JAMES T. FERRARA has been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott as a judge in the 15th Judicial Circuit. Ferrara, of Boca Raton, has served as a shareholder at Shraiberg, Ferrara, Landau & Page, P.A., since 2009.

PETER MATTHEW BRIGHAM has been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott as a judge in the 5th Judicial Circuit. Brigham, of Morriston, has served as an assistant state attorney in the 5th Circuit since 2002.

FABIENNE E. FAHNESTOCK AND YAEL GAMM have been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott as judges in the 17th Judicial Circuit. Fahnestock, of Parkland, has served as a shareholder at Gunster, Yoakley & Stewart, P.A., since 2007. Gamm, of Plantation, has served as an assistant state attorney in the 17th Circuit since 2010.

JAMES SAMPEY, MARK HARDEN AND ROCKY MCPHERSON have been appointed or reappointed by Gov. Rick Scott to Florida is for Veterans, Inc. Sampey, of Indian Rocks Beach, is a former president and chief operating officer of Valpak. Harden, of Pensacola, is military aid director for the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society. McPherson, of Fernandina Beach, is former vice president of military and defense programs for Enterprise Florida, Inc. and a retired colonel in the United States Marine Corps.

DONNA WALSH has been named health officer for the Department of Health in Seminole County. Walsh previously served as assistant health officer and acting health officer for the department in Seminole County.

LOUIS RENJEL has been appointed vice president of federal government affairs and strategic policy for Duke Energy. Renjel most recently has served as vice president of strategic infrastructure at CSX Corp.

PAUL WEOTT AND LANCE BENSON have been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Board of Orthotists and Prosthetists. Weott, of Bradenton, is owner of Orthotic and Prosthetic Centers, Inc. Benson, of Miami, is executive managing director for Newmark Grubb Knight Frank.

ANTHONY LOPRESTO, HERMAN WHITE AND FREDERICK BARTHLOW have been appointed or reappointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Florida Building Code Administrators and Inspectors Board. Lopresto, of Groveland, is a building inspector for Lake County Building Services. White, of Pensacola, is a barber at Esquire Barber Shop. Barthlow, of Middleburg, is senior plans examiner for Universal Engineering Sciences

BARBARA CLOWDUS has been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Early Learning Coalition of Indian River, Martin and Okeechobee Counties. Clowdus, of Stuart, is publisher of Martin County Currents.

ERNEST HEWETT AND KENNETH HANCOCK have been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the DeSoto County Hospital Board. Hewett, of Arcadia, is owner of WayOut Enterprises. Hancock, of Arcadia, is an associate at Eugene E. Waldron, Jr., P.A.
