GENE SPAULDING has been named director of the Florida Highway Patrol. Spaulding has worked in law enforcement for 22 years, most recently serving as commander of the patrol's Troop G.

GARY WILKINSON has been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott as a judge in the 4th Judicial Circuit. Wilkinson, of Jacksonville, has been a shareholder at Bledsoe, Jacobson, Schmidt, Wright, Wilkinson & Sussman since 2006.

PINKI JACKEL has been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott as Franklin County supervisor of elections. Jackel, of St. George Island, has served as a Franklin County commissioner.

CHET HUDDLESTON has been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott as the Hardee County supervisor of elections. Huddleston, of Wauchula, has worked with the United States Department of Agriculture.

ROBERT SPOTTSWOOD has been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. Spottswood, of Key West, is the chief executive officer of Spottswood Companies Inc.

MIRIAM "MIMI" PLANAS has been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Florida Commission on the Status of Women. Planas, of Miami, is an executive assistant with Dolphin Products and is chairwoman of the Miami-Dade County Community Council, District 10.

WILLIAM "BILL" PRUMMELL AND MICHAEL ALLEN have been appointed or reappointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission. Prummell, of Punta Gorda, is the sheriff of Charlotte County. Allen, of Lakeland, is the detention major for the Polk County Sheriff's Office.

ROBERT HUDSON, TOM MALLINI AND LISA PREVATT have been reappointed by Gov. Rick Scott to the Santa Fe College District Board of Trustees. Hudson, of Gainesville, is a retired health care executive. Mallini, of Gainesville, has been president and chief executive officer of Merchants & Southern Bank since 1985. Prevatt, of Hampton, has been an assistant superintendent for the Bradford County school district since 2007.

PATRICK SLEVIN has been named campaign manager for the Florida Businesses for a Competitive Workforce Coalition. Slevin, founder of the firm SL7 Communications, has worked as a consultant on numerous issues and served as the mayor of Safety Harbor.

ANDREW WIGGINS, ANDY GONZALEZ, CAROLYN GOSSELIN AND DREW PRESTON have been named to positions at the Florida Chamber of Commerce. Wiggins, who will serve as senior director of campaigns and elections, most recently worked as deputy director of Senate campaigns for the Republican Party of Florida. Gonzalez, who will serve as the chamber's director of political development, most recently worked as political affairs manager for the League of Southeastern Credit Unions. Gosselin, who will serve as chief marketing and strategy officer, has worked for companies such as CNL Financial Group, Inc., and SunTrust Banks, Inc. Preston, who will serve as a vice president, formerly worked as the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's director of congressional and public affairs.

GEORGE REGO has been installed as president of the Florida Academy of Physician Assistants. Rego practiced clinically for more than 10 years in Naples and is employed by Arthrex, Inc. as a clinical specialist in the Department of Medical Education.

JOY JACKSON has been appointed director for the Florida Department of Health in Polk and Hardee Counties. Jackson, a physician, has served since 2012 as medical director for the Department of Health in Polk County.

LAURA BRENNAMAN has been appointed to the Agency for Health Care Administration's State Consumer Health Information and Policy Advisory Council. Brennaman is policy and research director for the Florida Community Health Action Information Network, known as Florida CHAIN.

LAURA H. GREENE has been named chief scientist for the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory, or MagLab, at Florida State University. Greene, a physicist, has worked at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and is associate director for the Center for Emergent Superconductivity, a consortium of researchers from Brookhaven National Lab, Argonne National Lab and the University of Illinois.
