Passidomo, Hudson bring in bucks for Senate race

BY THE NEWS SERVICE OF FLORIDA

In a primary battle between two House members hoping to move to the Senate, state Rep. Kathleen Passidomo, R-Naples, raised $37,940 last month, according to newly filed finance reports. Passidomo ended the month with about $164,000 in available cash as part of her bid for a Southwest Florida seat that will be vacated in November by term-limited Sen. Garrett Richter, R-Naples.

But Passidomo continues to trail her opponent, Rep. Matt Hudson, R-Naples, in overall fundraising. Hudson reported raising $23,293 in January and had about $375,000 in cash on hand in his campaign account. Also, a Hudson-affiliated political committee, known as "Making the Right Call for Florida," raised $49,500 in January and had about $632,000 in available cash, the new reports show. Candidates and committees faced a Wednesday night deadline for filing reports showing finance activity through Jan. 31.
