TAX CUTS GO TO SENATE COMMITTEE: The Senate Appropriations Committee will take up several issues, including the House's proposed tax-cut package (HB 7109). The package, sponsored by House Ways & Means Chairman Jim Boyd, R-Bradenton, includes trimming a tax on commercial leases and holding sales-tax holidays. (8 a.m., 412 Knott Building, the Capitol.)

SENATE TAKES UP WORKERS' COMP: The Senate will hold a floor session and consider numerous issues, including a proposal (SB 1582), filed by Sen. Rob Bradley, R-Fleming Island, that would make changes in the workers' compensation insurance system. Lawmakers are grappling with the workers' compensation issue after regulators last year approved a 14.5 percent rate increase. (1 p.m., Senate chamber, the Capitol.)

DEADLINE FOR TRANSPORTATION APPLICATIONS: Candidates to become secretary of the Florida Department of Transportation face a Monday application deadline. Former Secretary Jim Boxold announced his resignation in January.
