Leek gets backing from former candidates in HD 25

Two other Republicans who initially sought to replace state Rep. Fred Costello, R-Ormond Beach, for an open House seat have given their support to GOP candidate Tom Leek, according to statements issued Wednesday by the Leek campaign. New Smyrna Beach Republican Becky Reichenberg filed paperwork with the state March 7 withdrawing from the race, and fellow Republican Deb Denys posted a news release Tuesday on Facebook announcing she will withdraw and seek re-election to the Volusia County Council in 2018. The remaining candidates in House District 25 are Leek and New Smyrna Beach Democrat Noel Bickford. Costello is not seeking re-election this fall because he is running for a congressional seat.
