Leek collects $54K in race for Costello seat

In a battle for an open House seat in Volusia County, Ormond Beach Republican Thomas Leek raised $54,100 in two weeks in February, according to newly filed campaign-finance reports. Leek is one of four candidates running in House District 25 to try to replace Rep. Fred Costello, an Ormond Beach Republican running for Congress this year. Leek, who opened a campaign account Feb. 15, is one of three Republicans in the race. New Smyrna Beach Republican Deborah Denys reported raising $10,130 in February, giving her an overall total of $23,230, reports posted on the state Division of Elections website show. New Smyrna Beach Republican Becky Reichenberg raised $2,536 after opening a campaign account Feb. 1, while Democrat Noel Cheryl Bickford did not raise any money. State candidates and committees face a Thursday deadline for filing reports about their campaign-finance activity through Feb. 29.
