Galvano, Latvala bring in bucks for re-election bids

Though they have not drawn opponents, Senate Majority Leader Bill Galvano and incoming Senate Appropriations Chairman Jack Latvala piled up cash in April for their re-election campaigns, according to newly filed finance reports. Galvano, R-Bradenton, collected $84,580 during the month and had about $85,000 in cash on hand as of April 30. Also, a Galvano-led political committee known as "Innovate Florida" raised $77,500 during April and had about $965,000 on hand, the reports show. Galvano is running in the redrawn Senate District 21, which includes voters in Manatee and Hillsborough counties. Meanwhile, Latvala, R-Clearwater, raised $43,350 in April for his campaign in Senate District 16, which includes parts of Pinellas and Pasco counties. Latvala's campaign had about $250,000 in cash on hand as of April 30.
