Flores, Korge slug it out for Senate seat

Sen. Anitere Flores, R-Miami, raised $81,335 last month for what is expected to be a fierce campaign in a South Florida Senate district, bringing her overall total to more than $600,000, according to a newly filed finance report. Flores is battling Democrat Andrew Korge in the redrawn Senate District 39, which includes Monroe County and part of Miami-Dade County. Flores had raised an overall total of $607,553 as of April 30, with about $305,000 in cash on hand. A Flores-affiliated political committee known as "Floridians for Strong Leadership" raised $8,500 in April and had about $180,000 in cash on hand. Korge, meanwhile, raised $25,710 last month for his campaign account and had $163,000 on hand as of April 30. A political committee known as "Friends of Andrew Korge" also raised $76,000 during the month and had $322,000 on hand, the reports show.
