Emily Slosberg to run for House seat opened by father

BY THE NEWS SERVICE OF FLORIDA

With her father deciding to run for the state Senate, Boca Raton Democrat Emily Slosberg has moved up her plans to run for a Palm Beach County House seat. Slosberg filed paperwork to run this year in House District 91, which became open when Rep. Irv Slosberg, D-Boca Raton, launched a campaign this week in Senate District 29, according to documents posted Wednesday on the state Division of Elections website. Emily Slosberg had earlier indicated she would run for the House seat in 2018, when her father would have ordinarily been term-limited. Former Rep. Kelly Skidmore, D-Boca Raton, opened a campaign account June 2 in the House district, amid speculation that Irv Slosberg would run for the Senate. Irv Slosberg will run against fellow Rep. Kevin Rader, D-Delray Beach, for the open Senate District 29 seat. Formal qualifying for legislative races will be held next week.
