Democrats plan runs in Costello, Negron districts

BY THE NEWS SERVICE OF FLORIDA

A Democrat has joined three Republicans looking to replace outgoing state Rep. Fred Costello, R-Ormond Beach, while another Democrat appears likely to challenge incoming Senate President Joe Negron, R-Stuart, according to the state Division of Elections website. New Smyrna Beach Democrat Noel Bickford opened a campaign account Friday to run in House District 25, which is expected to be an open seat because Costello is running for Congress. Republicans Deborah Denys, Tom Leek and Becky Reichenberg also have opened accounts for the Volusia County race. Meanwhile, Port St. Lucie Democrat Bruno Moore opened a campaign account Thursday to run against Negron, who is slated to become Senate president if he wins re-election in November.
