Adam Putnam's brother, agriculture leader, dies

BY THE NEWS SERVICE OF FLORIDA

Will Putnam, who managed his family's citrus and cattle business and was the older brother of state Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam, died Thursday morning after a long battle with a rare form of pituitary cancer, The Ledger newspaper of Lakeland reported. He was 51. Will Putnam managed a business that included about 1,000 acres of citrus and more than 1,000 head of cattle and was on the board of Florida's Natural Growers in Lake Wales, according to a story posted on The Ledger website. He died of heart failure at Tampa General Hospital, and his wife, Lee, told The Ledger that the heart failure stemmed from his body breaking down after the fight with cancer. He was a lifelong Bartow resident.
