HOUSE COMMITTEES SET REDISTRICTING MEETINGS

By the News Service of Florida

The House panels tasked with redrawing the state's political boundaries have set committee meetings for the first week of the legislative session and released proposed committee bills that are essentially the same as the options presented to House members earlier this month. Subcommittees dealing with redistricting plans for Congress and the state Senate are set to meet at noon on Jan. 9, while the panel drawing maps for the state House will meet at 3 p.m. The maps released as part of the PCBs don't appear to have any major changes from the plans released earlier; they share the same numbers as those options. No meeting has been set for the House Redistricting Committee, which is overseeing the entire once-a-decade project.
