BOOSTING RATES OF GRADUATION: UF LOOKS TO MATCH NATIONAL PEERS, RESPOND TO LAWMAKER via Christopher Curry of The Gainesville Sun.

Visiting UF on a whirlwind tour of the state’s public universities last month, incoming Florida Senate President Joe Negron upped the ante by pushing UF officials to increase the percentage of students graduating in four years.

UF’s 67 percent four-year graduation rate now is tops among the State University System’s 12 schools, with Florida State second at 61 percent.

But Negron said having one-third of UF’s undergraduates not finishing in four years was a “red flag we need to address” as UF strives to attain and maintain a position among the top 10 public universities in the country.
